Get into the spirit of the season with Friends of Greyhounds and the North Miami Beach Snowfest Parade! This Saturday evening (December 11th) the FoG folks will be walking in a fun, neighborhood parade to show off our dogs and get some people to come to the kennel. It’s only a half mile walk so it’s a greyhound-friendly length. And it ends at a party with music, food, games and a 30 TON snow mountain. I hear they’ll have photos with Santa, too!
If you would like to join our parade, contact Steve Holloway (events@friendsofgreyhounds.org) so we know to expect you. We’re going to bring a bunch of turtleneck sweaters for the dogs and some flashing necklaces for dogs & people. We should look pretty good with a whole group of our gorgeous greyhounds in turtlenecks! Anything else is welcome – reindeer ears, santa hats, etc. Bring your friends. Bring you greyhounds. Have some fun! If you are at the kennel on Saturday during the day, you are welcome to pick out your sweater for your dog in advance.
The nitty gritty details from the City of North Miami Beach:
Staging for the parade will begin at 5-5:30pm, and the parade begins at 6:30pm. All the walking groups will line up on NE 171 ST, in the west bound lanes, facing east, west of NE 19 AV. If you are coming from the Golden Glades Interchange (where I-95, SR 826, SR 441 and the Turnpike all meet), go east on SR826 which is NE 167 ST. NE 167 ST turns into NE 163 ST. Then turn north (left) on NE 15 AV, immediately after the 163 ST Mall. Go to NE 171 ST and turn east (right). Everyone can park in the median of NE 171 ST around NE 18 AV, depending on traffic. There will be an officer to answer questions in that area.
